Chevrolet Awards Devon Resident, Little League Baseball Coach a New Tahoe During World Series

Chevrolet recently honored Devon resident Gary Brooks, Director of the Berwyn-Paoli Area Little League’s Challenger Program, with its 2020 Chevy Cares Award during Game Two of the World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays.

Brooks, who is employed by CertainTeed Corporation as a Regional Sales Manager, was feted for providing Philadelphia-area kids with physical and intellectual challenges the opportunity to participate in and enjoy the benefits of youth baseball. Chevrolet gave him a new Tahoe Z71, so he can continue to provide these meaningful and enriching experiences to the next generation of baseball players.

“For the last 10 years, Gary Brooks has demonstrated tireless energy and unwavering dedication as he sets the tone of inclusion and service,” reads a statement from the Berwyn-Paoli Area Little League. “The Challenger Program has offered more than 500 children with special needs the opportunity to participate in baseball and softball.”

Brooks has coordinated four Challenger Day Tournaments in which hundreds of children with special needs in the Delaware Valley participated. The events required significant fundraising and the help of more than 200 volunteers to provide an unforgettable experience for the participants.

“Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Gary’s creativity and leadership have continued to inspire the community,” the Berwyn-Paoli Area Little League said. “Beginning in March, Gary began hosting weekly Zoom sessions as a way for players and parents to connect, share, and plan for returning to play as quickly as possible.”

Brooks has also advocated for giving back to the community. In May, he led the “BPALL Gives Back Food Drive” to gather food and gift card donations to support local food banks. The campaign raised more than 1,000 pounds of food and personal hygiene donations, along with more than $600 in gift cards.
