With a mission is to develop the physical and emotional well-being of all people, regardless of their individual challenges, Thorncroft has proudly served Chester County and beyond ince 1969 and is a premier leader in the field of therapeutic horsemanship.

For more than 10 years, the nonprofit has welcomed members of the military community to participate in veterans programming and equine-assisted activities.

Recently, Thorncroft created a six-weeks-long program that is designed to address the specific needs of veterans and their desired outcomes. This camaraderie-based program directly targets the isolation issues exacerbated by COVID-19 and emphasizes foundational principles of horsemanship, including understanding herd dynamics, rounding penning, and other groundwork requiring a close, emotional connection with the horse.

Some of the many ways veterans benefit from these connections include empathy, stress tolerance, self-actualization, and emotional awareness.

Thorncroft plans to welcome its next group of veterans in early December. Space is limited, so please call 610-644-1963 or e-mail info@thorncroft.org if you are interested in learning more about or supporting the program.

In deepest gratitude for their service, Thorncroft proudly offers all veterans a full scholarship for their lesson expenses.
