Accomplished Chef, Food Blogger Redesigns Her West Chester Kitchen with French Flair
Susan B. Walter (a.k.a. Subee), the accomplished chef and blogger behind Subee’s Kitchen, remodeled her West Chester kitchen with French flair, writes Carla Westerman for The Hunt magazine.
The skillful cook who once lived in France and won a Today show cooking contest uses her kitchen as a workspace and the perfect backdrop for her blog postings.
When she first moved to Chester County in 2014 with her husband and two daughters, the Colonial farmhouse they bought seemed perfect in many ways, except for the kitchen.
“It had a small island and very little counter space,” said Walter.
To create a kitchen with professional appliances set out within a well-organized layout that would complement her culinary creativity, Walter drew from her French experience – and Pinterest.
She installed a large, five-by-eight-foot island with a two-inch Carrera marble slab to serve as her main workspace. She then carefully selected the placement and size of the cabinets and drawers to perfectly suit her needs.
The insides of the drawers and cabinets were also carefully curated, with her favorite French ingredients getting the best spot.
Finally, the kitchen was made much brighter thanks to new windows, white walls, and ceiling beams.
