West Chester University has broken into the Top 10 on U.S. News & World Report’s 2021 list of Top Public Regional Universities North, rising to No. 10 from No. 12 last year.
WCU has advanced among Regional Universities North (both public and private institutions), up to No. 50 from No. 55 in 2020.
And it remains a Best Value Regional Universities North, coming in at No. 50.
WCU is listed among the Top 25 Best Colleges for Veterans (Regional Universities North) at No. 23, moving up from No. 31.
For 2021, WCU is listed at No. 11 among Best Undergraduate Teaching Regional Universities North.
WCU also advanced among Top Performing Universities in Social Mobility, rising to No. 136 from No. 145.
Now in its 36th year, U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges assesses 1,452 bachelor’s degree-granting institutions in the U.S. on 17 measures of academic quality. The data used in these rankings pertain to fall 2019 and earlier and is reported by schools directly to U.S. News upon receiving its questionnaire.
New this year, U.S. News ranked the Best Undergraduate Computer Science Programs (Overall), with WCU making the second tier.
Also, WCU was recognized for the overall value of its undergraduate business programs.
The U.S. News formula puts an emphasis on outcomes. The factors that directly relate to social mobility, graduation and retention rates, graduate indebtedness, and graduation rate performance have a total weight of 40 percent in the ranking methodology, outweighing any other factor in the rankings.
