G Lodge, a popular and longstanding restaurant in Phoenixville that once served as a setting for M. Night Shyamalan’s The Happening, is up for sale, writes Natalie Kostelni for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The establishment has been owned by Dennis Dreibelbis since 1984. In fact, business was so good that in 2003, he even took all of his employees on a trip to Cancun. Over the years, the restaurant has built a reputation as a Chester County institution and is often visited by locals, Boy Scout troops, hikers, and those driving around on a Sunday.

But then the pandemic happened.

“It had been running like clockwork until this COVID hit,” said Dreibelbis. “I can survive but I don’t want to just survive.”

At 71, Dreibelbis had already considered retiring. Now, he is selling the property that sits on 0.83 acres for $850,000.

It is expected to attract a variety of prospective buyers, some of which may potentially expand the existing structure and continue operating the G Lodge or open something new.
