Although their immediate futures on the diamond remain unclear amidst the coronavirus pandemic, three Chester County natives have committed to continuing their academic and baseball careers at Lehigh University.

Avon Grove High School graduates Riley Davis and Andrew Nole and Downingtown West product Drew Morse will compete for the Division I Mountain Hawks of the Patriot League.

Davis, who hit .344 with a .450 on-base percentage during his senior season in 2019 at Avon Grove, is a transfer from UNC-Wilmington.

“Riley is a transfer who is extremely athletic and someone we see who sticks in the middle infield for the next four years,” said A.J. Miller, Lehigh’s hitting coach and recruiting coordinator. “We believe Riley to be someone who will lead by example and be a staple for us in the program both offensively and defensively. We are extremely excited about the skillsets Riley brings to Lehigh.”

Nole, a catcher, led Avon Grove in hitting with a .380 average his sophomore year in 2018 and was named the high school’s Athlete of the Year in 2020.

“We believe he projects to hit in the middle of the lineup and stick behind the plate,” Miller said of Nole. “He already has a plus arm defensively and plus power with the bat. We’re excited to see how he continues to work and develop at Lehigh.”

Morse had a much-decorated junior season in 2019 with Downingtown West, earning first-team All-Ches-Mont honors with a .360 batting average and 17 RBIs.

“Drew is a versatile player,” Miller said of Morse, a left-handed pitcher and outfielder who can also play first base. “He’s incredibly sound defensively, and we project the bat to be just as good. Even though it’s not easy, we expect Drew to compete right away as a two-way player and provide us depth on both sides of the ball.”
