Immaculata University is expanding its Bachelor of Science degree in Emergency Planning and Management (EPM), designed originally for the College of Adult Professional Studies, to include traditional students in the College of Undergraduate Studies.

Immaculata’s EPM program is recognized by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

“In 2012, Immaculata University launched the Emergency Planning and Management degree for adult undergraduate students,” said Dr. Angela Tekely, vice president for Academic Affairs and provost. “As demand continues to grow for careers in emergency planning, we expanded this popular major to all undergraduate students.”

The profession, projected to grow by five percent between 2018-2028, allows graduates to serve their communities in a meaningful way. The EPM program trains students to analyze crises, employ problem-solving techniques and management skills, and understand government policies related to emergency planning and response.

Courses cover topics such as emergency management systems; risk analysis; public relations; crisis communications; and the ethical, legal, political, organizational, and financial aspects of emergency management.
