After the pandemic devastated their business, Coatesville-based wedding photographers Grace and Matt Rauppius were forced to change their business model to survive, writes Fran Maye for the Daily Local News.

The couple went from working around 70 weddings a year to three so far in 2020. However, with the federal unemployment stimulus expiring, they decided to dig into their already depleted savings and invest $75,000 into converting their business, Right Start Photography, to providing hospitality and catering.

They purchased around 1,800 square feet in the Midway Arts Building in Coatesville and will use the space to host small, intimate weddings. Under the current guidelines from the CDC, they can accommodate 25 people per wedding.

“We are catering to the significantly increased population looking to have a small, intimate event,” said Grace. “People now are googling micro-weddings, intimate weddings, and elopement weddings more than they ever have.”

The couple plans to open on Saturday, Aug. 1, with an open house scheduled for Sept. 21.

The transition seems to be working, as they have already booked 50 weddings for next year.
