County Solicitor

This position oversees a team of lawyers for the county; provides legal advice and opinions relative to operational matters within county government; and prosecutes all suits brought by the county and defends all suits and actions brought against the county.

The ideal candidate will possess a license to practice law in Pennsylvania and a minimum of 10 years of litigation experience; significant experience with trials and appeals; strong leadership and management skills; and the ability to master new subjects and areas of the law.

Attorney I – Public Defender

This position interviews clients and witnesses and evaluates clients’ potential defenses; resolves cases at preliminary hearing level and/or negotiates reductions in charges; interviews client and witnesses and performs legal research; and prepares correspondence and legal papers.

The ideal candidate will possess a license to practice law in Pennsylvania and a minimum of one year of job-related experience; strong legal research, reading and writing, and communication skills; and working knowledge of the Pennsylvania Rules of Civil, Criminal, and Appellate Procedures.

SSS III – District Attorney

This position works with district justice staff to coordinate court schedules; aids assistant district attorneys with court preparation; prepares and schedules private criminal complaints for review; and enters new case assignments into the court computer system.

The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or GED and one to two years of general office experience; the ability to maintain confidential information and handle confidential matters; and strong customer service, communication, and time management skills.
