COVID-19: Making Sense of the Data on Thursday, June 18

There is a lot of confusion surrounding the current pandemic, especially with respect to the overwhelming amounts of data that local and national government organizations — in addition to the media — disseminate regularly. The public’s need to understand this crisis has opened the door to a cottage industry of amateur data scientists who mislead with faulty interpretations and predictions. In order to help make sense of the data for yourself, this webinar will explore approaches to modeling the data, explain what the data represents, and empower you to be able to interpret the data you are given.

Colin Neill, director of engineering programs and professor of software and systems engineering, will lead the webinar. He has studied complex technical and socio-technical systems for 20 years and is the author of more than 90 research articles. He is the founding program head of the graduate degrees in Data Analytics at Penn State.

Staying Relevant in the World of Remote Work on Thursday, July 16

For many, remote work is uncharted waters. When you’re not in the office, evidence of your contributions is harder for others to see. Cultivating relationships with mentors and sponsors is limited to infrequent emails and unscheduled phone calls and socializing with stakeholders becomes an exception, not a routine occurrence. Research suggests you can realize career progress while working remotely. It takes a conscious effort to make your distinctive value visible. This webinar addresses how to create a personalized “playbook” for optimizing your career when not working at the office.

Charley Timmins, Founding Principal of PMA LLC, will lead the webinar. Timmins brings 25 years of experience helping thousands of Executives-In-Transition simplify their career transitions as they navigate challenging job markets. He guides his clients to achieve professional success, gain personal significance, and have more fun along the way. He also helps clients discover their distinctive Value Proposition and what they offer their future companies and/or customers.
