In light of the current events that have been sapping our morale, one Coatesville teacher decided to bring a smile to her students’ faces by giving out free water ice to them and their families, writes Bill Anderson for FOX 29.

“I just really wanted to give back to the students and let them know their teacher is here, and although we’re not in the classroom, I still care about them,” said Nicole Brown, a fourth-grade teacher at Caln Elementary School.

Brown, who gave out water ice from a Rita’s Water Ice Truck, said the day was not only about the coronavirus pandemic, George Floyd, or the protests that have been occurring. She said it was also about checking in and celebrating her kids. She also wanted to make sure her kids knew they could comfortably share how they feel with her and the class.

“With the majority of my class being young black males, I wanted them to realize that there can still be a safe place with their teacher and in their school,” said Brown.
