Inspired by the troupe’s optimism, West Chester-based Windish Music and Productions has donated a set of new drums to Tony “Tone” Royster and the Positive Movement Entertainment drumline, writes Layla Jones for Billy Penn.

The Elmo-led group’s surprise birthday party parades have been in high demand among Philadelphia-area parents since social distancing started affecting traditional birthday plans.

The group’s enthusiasm and positivity have recently gotten it invited for an inaugural performance in Poconos. The day before the gig, they received the sizable new drum set from West Chester native Mike Windish and his entertainment production company.

“They’re like top-of-the-line drums, Yamaha!” said Royster. “I’m like, oh man. It’s definitely and truly a blessing.”

The handoff of the set that included three large bass drums, two sets of quintuplet drums, a snare, and several other used drums was done following social-distancing rules.

“I just threw some love at them and said, ‘It’s amazing what you guys do. I’m a drummer, too … and I have these drums that I think you’re gonna make better use of,’” said Windish.
