Thorndale native and Bishop Shanahan graduate Jordan Ambrose has been named the Most Outstanding Male Senior Athlete of the Year at Immaculata University, where he was a four-year starter and key contributor on the men’s basketball team.

Ambrose, a 6-foot-1 guard who majored in Exercise Science, scored 1,355 career points, the fourth-most in program history. Throughout his four seasons with the Mighty Macs, he shot 41.3 percent from the field and 83.2 percent from the free-throw line.

As a senior, Ambrose put together one of the top three-point-shooting performances in program history, as he set a new single-season record for made threes with 72, which increased his career total to 188, the most ever at Immaculata.

Layne Kennedy

Garnet Valley High School graduate Layne Kennedy, who competed in women’s lacrosse and field hockey, was named Immaculata’s Most Outstanding Female Senior Athlete of the Year.

In lacrosse, Kennedy, who majored in Education, started in all 59 games of her career. Along the way, she rewrote the program’s record book as the career leader in both points (257) and goals (215), while also being the only player in program history to eclipse the 200-goal plateau.

During the fall, Kennedy was equally as dominant in field hockey, appearing in 74 games over the course of her career and starting in 49. She accounted for 25 goals and 54 points, which rank third and fourth, respectively, in program history.

Additionally, she recorded five game-winning goals. A first-team All-Atlantic East Conference selection as a senior, Kennedy led the team in scoring with 20 points on 10 goals.
