Meridian Bank recently contributed $5,000 to The Foundation for Delaware County for a supportive housing project that will benefit low-income women, children, and families in need of affordable housing in the City of Chester.

The project is a partnership between The Foundation for Delaware County and the Chester Housing Authority.

Meridian Bank is one of five investors to contribute to this new initiative and will receive tax credits under the Special Program Priorities (SPP) project.

The project was approved in November 2019 for funding by the Pennsylvania Department of Economic Development as part of the Neighborhood Assistance Tax Credit Program.

Under the project, program participants in the foundation’s Healthy Start and Nurse-Family Partnership programs will receive assistance and support to allow them to access affordable housing units provided by Chester Housing Authority.

“My children and I would not have a place to call home without this program at The Foundation for Delaware County. I am truly blessed to have been part of Healthy Start, and I am so grateful for all they have given me,” shared one client who recently moved into a new home. “After experiencing homelessness, the look on my children’s faces when we walked in the door and they realized that this was our home brought me to tears. I could not be more thankful to the foundation team.”
