First responders lined Chester County Hospital’s main entrance to salute and cheer front-line staff for their heroic efforts during the coronavirus pandemic, writes Pete Bannan for the Daily Local News.
“It’s overwhelming,” said nurse Amy Hitchcock. “They are doing a lot themselves, and it shows what a great community we are. When I came in, it was amazing.”
Officials from the Chester County Sheriff’s Office and Good Fellowship Ambulance organized both the Chester County Hospital event and a similar one that was held at the same time at Jennersville Hospital in southern Chester County.
“On behalf of all law enforcement in this county, and probably this nation, we salute you, just like you salute all of us, and I thank you for your service and tell you to please stay safe and do well,” Sheriff Fredda Maddox said to hospital workers.
The first responders remained at the hospital into the evening to applaud both the staff arriving and those who were heading home after a long day of helping in the fight against the deadly virus.
