Ginny Kerslake, a candidate for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 167th District, is giving back to the community amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

“In times like today, when our community has joined together toward a common goal of defeating the COVID-19 virus, we all should look for ways to help our neighbors and fellow citizens to make life as comfortable as possible,” she said.

Kerslake has taken action to improve the lives of the residents of her district, as well as neighboring communities. It started when she posted that the Chester County Food Bank was seeing increased demand and started an online fundraiser last Sunday. When the original goal of $1,000 was met within the first hour, she doubled the amount to $2,000, and by the end of the day, thanks to the support of many, $2,225 was raised.

Also, after reading that the Red Cross is facing a severe blood shortage due to the cancellation of blood drives at some schools and workplaces, Kerslake booked an appointment to donate at a local blood drive. Because she has the rare AB+ blood type needed for plasma that is used in trauma and emergency situations, she signed up for that more-involved process.

Kerslake and her husband Brian live in West Whiteland and have two adult sons. She ran in the 2019 Democratic Primary for Chester County Commissioner, on the heels of managing the successful 2018 campaign to elect Rep. Danielle Friel Otten in the 155th State House District.
