With companies that provide mobile trailers closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, Malvern-based Devault Foods turned to Party Center in Phoenixville to find solutions for an add-on break room and a space for health screenings, writes Bob Fernandez for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

For the extra space for the break room, Party Center offered Devault a wedding tent with “cute little globes in there that adds to the atmosphere,” said Eric Strunk, Devault’s director of facilities and engineering.

A smaller tent was provided for health screening directly outside the plant entrance.

These two spaces are just a few of the many safety measures implemented by the meat processor, which has been deemed an essential business by Gov. Tom Wolf. And with higher levels of absenteeism and operating costs, Devault is also feeling the effects of the coronavirus crisis.

“It is definitely adding a lot of extra expenses,” said Brett Black, Devault’s chief executive.

The safety measures include daily health screenings, an increased number of hand sanitizers, and strategically placed floor stickers that remind people about social distancing among other changes.
