JC Pool & Spa in Phoenixville is working at capacity, as many people decide to open their pools early to placate their children who are stricken with cabin fever, writes Katie Park for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

“We opened more pools in March than we ever have before,” said Doug Lacey, who co-owns the company with his wife, Marie. “We normally start working in March, but not at this rate.”

He said that while most people cite their kids as the reason for reopening their pools, it is the adults who also need the outlet provided by their pools in these trying times.

“We’re fully booked, and we have 80 people on a waiting list hoping to get squeezed in before Memorial Day,” said Lacey.

Lacey was also forced to turn away some of the requested work since he has allowed some of his staff to stay home during the pandemic. His general manager is currently working part-time, while two of his pool technicians are not working.

“We’re at capacity, and if people get sick, I may not be able to accommodate,” said Lacey.
