Malvern native and Great Valley High School graduate Jimmy McLaughlin is returning to FC Cincinnati for the 2020 MLS season after an ACL injury derailed his campaign last year, writes Jonathan Sigal for Major League Soccer.

This will be the fifth season with the club for the 26-year-old midfielder. He was a part of the team’s inaugural season in the United Soccer League in 2016 before it advanced to MLS as an expansion franchise last year.

McLaughlin was forced to miss the team’s 2019 season because of a serious injury.

Now healthy and back in shape, McLaughlin will get a taste of MLS action for the first time.

“Jimmy has shown his quality and has demonstrated a strong work rate on the pitch during preseason,” said FC Cincinnati General Manager Gerard Nijkamp. “He remained focused and put in the required work to get back to full health after a tough injury.”

“It means the world to me just to be a part of this team,” McLaughlin said.
