Pro Racer from Coatesville Kickstarts Motorcycle Week in New Hampshire

By

Cameron Smith

Cameron Smith, a professional motorcycle racer and Coatesville resident, took a lap around a new flat track at New Hampshire Motor Speedway as part of the kickstart to Laconia Motorcycle Week, writes Bea Lewis for the New Hampshire Union Leader.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the quarter-mile oval dirt track was held earlier this month.

“I’m excited to come here,” said Smith. “It’s going to be some really good racing. It’s a small track with a lot of 450 cc riders. It will be a great show for the fans.”

Smith, 19, who has been competing since 2015, currently rides the No. 44 Honda CRF450R in the AFT (American Flat Track) Singles class for Richie Morris Racing.

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Smith tested out the new track for the assembled guests. Many of those who attended the ceremony were motorcycle racing greats who had gotten their start racing on the property when it was known as Bryar Motorsport Park.

The 96th Laconia Motorcycle Week is taking place now through June 16.
