After opening its first overseas office in Frankfurt, Germany, Chesterbrook-based Deacom is looking to continue its international expansion with a location in Asia, writes Michelle Caffrey for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

According to Deacom CEO Jay Deakins, the German office puts the software company in the perfect position to access the European market. The U.K. was eliminated as an option after leaving the European Union. Additionally, Germany’s economy represents around a quarter of the EU’s GDP.

“Germany was an easy choice when it came down to it,” said Deakins.

Deakins founded his company as a one-man show in his basement 25 years ago. He grew it steadily using cash flow over that period and never took on outside capital.

Now that he has established an international presence, he is planning a move into Asian markets next, with Singapore currently the frontrunner. Even the threat of the coronavirus spreading has not slowed down the company’s expansion plans.

“It’s a very scary thing, and obviously makes international travel challenging,” said Deakins. “That’s one of the reasons we have folks over there, so we’re not having to travel there.”
