Chester County is home to 11 of the 29 best towns on the Main Line and in the western suburbs, writes Tara Behan for Main Line Today.

Each town has a distinct personality and reputation with something different and unique to offer to residents and visitors.

Berwyn and Devon have fairly reasonable home prices and low taxes, along with train stations that provide for an easy commute to Center City.

Chester Springs offers beautiful topography and charmingly restored farmhouses.

Meanwhile, Downingtown has great deals for homebuyers for new residential developments and established neighborhoods with older colonial homes.

Kennett Square boasts historic charm and walkability, as well as the world-renowned Longwood Gardens.

Malvern’s King Street is home to a number of antique shops, home décor stores, clothing boutiques, and restaurants, while Paoli’s downtown is thriving thanks to two expanded and upgraded shopping centers.

Phoenixville’s revitalized downtown includes a surprising number of great restaurants, while Unionville and Chadds Ford attract people with a sought-after school district.

Finally, West Chester offers a thriving downtown, a long tradition of historic preservation, and the cultural offerings of the university.
