Kennett Square native and Unionville High School graduate Alex Pechin believes that fate guided his ascent to becoming one of the premier punters in all of college football, writes Neil Geoghegan for PA Prep Live.

“I’ve talked about it a lot with my parents,” he said, “that there seems to be fate involved.”

Five years ago, Pechin had only one scholarship offer, from Bucknell. Now, he leaves the program as one of its most decorated players ever.

“Alex has made every All-American team you can imagine,” said Unionville football coach Pat Clark. “He’s set numerous school records and is going to the NFL Combine.”

Pechin is one of just 337 college football players who received a coveted invite to the NFL Combine and one of only 12 from the Football Championship Subdivision. He’s also the only FCS punter.

“He is a young man that everybody at Unionville roots for,” Clark said. “So how awesome would it be to see him have a shot in the NFL?”
