Domonic Brown, a former Phillies outfielder who flamed out after an amazing start to his career, has found his new calling at East Norriton’s Athletes Academy, writes Mike Sielski for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Brown had an incredible period with the Phillies in 2013. With 27 home runs for the season and a spot on the National League All-Star team, everyone was certain stardom was inevitable.

However, he was never that good again. Plagued by injuries, he was released by the Phillies in 2015. Afterward, he changed teams several times but was never able to recapture that spark.

Last year, he moved back to the Philadelphia region with his family. He started training at Athletes Academy and soon began offering tips to other players. He then realized he enjoyed teaching enough to retire from playing altogether.

Now, he is hoping to help younger players achieve greatness and avoid some of his mistakes.

“If I had understood the game more, I would still be there,” he said. But if it is too late for his story to change, “it can be a different story for somebody else.”
