Catherine Friedman is stepping down from her position as Executive Director of Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center.
The Board of Directors expressed appreciation for Friedman’s leadership.
“In her time on the job, Catherine has helped build the amazing diversity and quality of performances that Uptown! is known for,” said Board Chair Holly Brown. “From live music to jazz to comedy, Uptown! has become a premier performance destination under Catherine’s leadership.”
Located in the restored historic Armory in downtown West Chester, Uptown! is a nonprofit that relies on both ticket sales and philanthropic contributions for support.
“Strong organizational leadership is paramount, given the robust growth in programming at Uptown!” said Brown.
Friedman, a nonprofit professional who is also a professional opera singer, found inspiration at Uptown!
“Our school programs and performance opportunities for young people change lives,” she said. “And for adults, there are performance choices to meet every interest. As we always say, ‘we’ve got the best seats in town!’”
The Board of Directors will be conducting its search for a new Executive Director to replace Friedman, whose tenure will end in late April. Interested candidates should check the Uptown! website for the position posting.
