Matt Pitts, who grew up in West Chester, is the Managing Partner of S1 Medical, a medical management firm in Chadds Ford that was developed to fulfill the market need for cost containment solutions.

Pitts, who earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing from Shippensburg University, credits his longtime friend and business partner at S1 Medical, Mike Fox, as having a “truly meaningful impact on my career.”

“I’ve made better decisions in my life thanks to Mike’s ability to collaborate, be an honest sounding board, and be an effective devil’s advocate,” said Pitts, who began working in seventh grade as a short-order cook and dishwasher at a diner.

Pitts’s proudest professional achievement was the day “we realized that our staff was truly buying.”

“Our company operates on a very specific foundation,” he said. “It is a business culture that believes that wealth can be achieved as a bi-product to the organization placing non-financial priorities first, mainly social/environmental effects, a thriving workforce, and the satisfaction of our customers. When our staff bought in, we formalized this culture into our ‘bMore Initiative.’”

Pitts’s favorite Chester County restaurant is Ram’s Head Bar & Grill, formerly known as Baxter’s, in West Chester.

“There, in a crowded basement at the corner of Walnut and Market in West Chester is where I met my wife, Kim,” he said. “Nothing can ever beat that.”
