The Brandywine Health Foundation has awarded three grants totaling $125,000 to Brandywine YMCA, the Coatesville Youth Initiative, and the Public Safety Training Facility.

“On Monday night, the Brandywine Health Foundation’s board of directors unanimously approved grants to three nonprofit organizations providing vital programs and services to youth and families in the greater Coatesville area,” said Frances M. Sheehan, President and CEO of the Foundation. “These three grantees, along with many other non-profits that we support throughout the year, help to ensure that everyone in our community has equal access to opportunities to live healthier lives.”

The Foundation aims to build a healthier community by increasing access to healthcare through resources, leadership and supporting organizations that help people lead healthier lives.  Since its inception fourteen years ago, it has awarded grants amounting to over $14.5 million.

Brandywine YMCA received $25,000 which will be used for water safety and swim lessons for individuals in the Coatesville area. The funds will in part, help run the SLASH swim safety program offered to all 2nd graders in the Coatesville Area School District, as well as swim lessons for Coatesville resident on Fridays over the summer.

The Coatesville Youth Initiative was awarded $60,000 to help support its high-quality after school programs including social support, mentoring, leadership, and career training. Some of the funds will also be used for the CYI’s Youth Conference Breakthrough Leadership Breakfast on November 11th.

The Public Safety Training Facility received $40,000 from the $200,000 pledge commitment for the support of a Junior Firefighter Camp, a Wellness and Fitness Initiative Peer Fitness Trainer Program, and the Community Emergency Response Team Program.
