Basil Joy, who was born in Queens and grew up in Long Island, is a Trial Attorney for Goldberg, Goldberg & Maloney, a law firm based in West Chester that is known for its successes in personal injury claims.
Joy earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Marketing from Boston University and his law degree from Villanova University. He credits The Honorable Juan R. Sanchez, Chief Judge of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, as having the biggest impact on his career.
“Judge Sanchez was one of my professors in law school, and I volunteered for him after graduation,” said Joy, who began working as a tutor in high school. “He mentored me early in my career and is one of the main reasons I ended up in Chester County. His story, from learning English as a second language to rising the ranks of the federal bench, was one that inspired me to step out of my own comfort zone and push my limits professionally.”
Joy’s proudest professional accomplishment was being sworn in as a prosecutor in Chester County, with his whole family present in the courtroom.
“Being the first in my family to be born in this country, it meant a lot to see how proud my family was, and to know that their decisions and sacrifices made my journey possible,” he said.
Joy’s favorite Chester County restaurant is Wasabi II in West Chester.
