Downingtown resident Mark Evans has continued his creative journey through a variety of acting and musical projects with the release of his debut album, Carousel, on vinyl, writes Brian Bingaman for Montgomery Media.

The Mark Evans Band presented its new album during the vinyl release party on Saturday at Chaplin’s in Spring City.

“When we started recording these tracks, and the direction it was taking, it was going to be vinyl from Day One,” said Evans.

The album uses the underside of a carousel roof as a record on its cover and it contains pop/rock songs that draw on music from the late 1960s and early ’70s.

“That sound still moves me,” said Evans.

The band had a limited, 200-copy pressing batch of Carousel LPs available on the night of the show. These also included a free downloadable version.

Since the 1980s, Evans has had a prolific career as an actor, music writer, and music producer in New York. Then three years ago, he decided to move to Downingtown to work on his first album.

“I met a woman from Chester County that brought me home,” he said.
