The blizzard that hit the eastern coast of the country last week dropping lavish amounts of snow on roads, driveways, and unprotected cars made for a very difficult Monday morning for many people who were struggling to get to work.  However, for the lucky workers who telecommute every day, it was just a Monday like any other, writes BizPhilly.

The number of people who benefit from getting to stay in the warmth of their homes while working is constantly increasing, according to the new data from FlexJobs. Online services for professionals who are seeking telecommuting, flexible schedule, part-time and freelance jobs states that the number of work from home job listings went up by 36% percent from 2014 to 2015, a 10% rise over the increase between 2013 and 2014.

After analyzing upwards of 40,000 businesses that post job listings for telecommuting, FlexJobs has published its list of top 100 companies for people who wish to work from home. Among those 100 businesses there are seven Philadelphia area companies that made the list, with four of them from Chester County.

The highest placed Chester County company on the list is Wayne based health information management company, Precyse, which came in at number 50 while its Wayne based neighbor Sungard Availability Services came in at number 56. SunGard helps keep applications and programs running smoothly and advises IT departments on the best ways to keep critical company information secure.

Also from Chester County, Ellucian, the Malvern based software and technology company, came in at 68th, while AmerisourceBergen, the Valley Forge based publicly traded company which operates as a pharmaceutical service business with locations around the world, managed to snag the  76th spot.

The analysis used to determine the list also showed that the top three career fields for job opportunities in telecommuting are computer/IT, healthcare and sales. The most common job titles for employees who work from home include writer, engineer and software developer. The three companies that came out on the very top of the list are LiveOps, TeleTech, and Amazon.
