The Community Warehouse Project of Chester County has helped a local family move into its new home by filling it with much-needed furniture.

After being homeless, Kathleen Bonner was able to find affordable housing with the help of an agency. However, since she had no furniture of her own, she was taken to the warehouse of Community Warehouse Project, where she met Executive Director Glenda Brion, who helps people transitioning out of homelessness.

“They get housing, but they don’t have any furniture because they’ve either been in a shelter or they had to leave their home in a hurry,” said Brion.

And while the Warehouse is set up to look like a regular thrift store, everything is free and has been donated by the community.

“It’s incredible how much people are willing and excited to give their items away, knowing that it’s all going right back out to people in need,” said Brion.

Available items can fill any room in an apartment, from the living room to the kitchen and bedroom. Bonner got to choose the items she wanted, making the apartment look like a true home for her and her four children.
