The United Way of Chester County recently elected its first female board chair and its 2017-2018 community campaign chair. The nonprofit also welcomed two community leaders committed to making a difference to its board of directors.

Celeste Barr, President of Clarus Consulting in West Chester, was elected as the United Way of Chester County’s first female board chair.

She began her career at a regional accounting firm, and then formed her own small business in 1999 to provide tax services to individuals, nonprofit organizations, and small companies. She’s also the outsourced CFO for a private high school in Delaware.

Since 2006, Barr has served on the United Way of Chester County’s board and been a leader on its Executive Committee as a Board Secretary and later as Treasurer.

He also previously served as the CEO of the YMCA of the Upper Main Line, where he grew its operating budget from $4 million to $17 million and led four capital campaigns that raised $25 million for building expansions.

Joining the United Way of Chester County’s board is Jodi Roth-Saks, Director of Service Learning and Volunteer Programs at West Chester University, and Tony Scheivert, the Township Manager of New Garden Township.
