The Coatesville Youth Initiative (CYI) is an independent nonprofit committed to youth-led, transformational community change. It trains youth leaders, enhances family relationships, encourages prevention education, and builds community collaboration.
Director of Development and Communications
This position will provide professional support to the executive director and board of directors in efforts to increase fund development and create awareness for the execution of CYI’s mission; take the lead role in resource development and management with a special emphasis on donor relations; and manage an effective communications plan to support CYI’s mission and strategic direction.
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of experience at a nonprofit in a development role; demonstrated fundraising achievements and grant writing ability, with success in growing the donor base across foundations, individuals, and corporations; a proven track record of successful fundraising/asset development activities. Familiarity with youth development, education, substance prevention, and community engagement is desired, and CFRE credentials and AFP membership is a plus.

Substance Prevention Coordinator
This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and assessing a community-wide effort that brings together schools, organizations, churches, businesses, media, and residents in an effort to reduce substance use and other negative behavior among youth in the community. He/she will implement and oversee Youth Problem Behavior (primarily substance) prevention activities; educate youth about the importance of making healthy decisions; and build relationships with residents, community leaders, schools, businesses, nonprofits, and faith-based organizations.
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of two years of experience managing programs, building community relationships, and educating/working with youth; experience implementing substance prevention strategies to reduce use and abuse (i.e. drugs, alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and prescription drugs); demonstrated success with group facilitation, community organizing, and health education; and strong communication skills and the desire and passion to communicate with people. He/she must be flexible, accept accountability, have initiative, set priorities, operate at a high level of productivity, have a pleasant demeanor, and embrace CYI’s guiding principles.
