Downingtown-based Victory Brewing recently debuted a Cherry and White Ale, a Belgium-style white ale flavored with cherry, writes Emma Padner for The Temple News.
This special brew represents the colors of Temple University, the alma mater of Victory co-founder Bill Covaleski. It was first introduced in October at Temple’s Tyler School of Art and Architecture’s Craft and Draft Night and then at Temple football’s homecoming game the following day.
“It’s a limited batch, and we’re hoping for it to get some love from the alumni and if we get a good response, maybe it’s something we continue,” said Covaleski.
He said that the recipe idea for the ale was born two years ago. The brewery discussed the possibility of crafting it with Michael McCloskey, an associate risk, insurance, and healthcare management professor at Fox School of Business. McCloskey introduced Covaleski to Temple’s Office of Alumni Relations, who then coordinated the creation of the beer.
Finally, the recipe was approved by Temple’s Alumni Association.
The packaging for the special brew features a stained-glass style red owl and was created with the help of Temple’s senior graphic design students.
