Serving at the Crossroads helped build, equip, and support this modern medical and dental facility in La Entrada, Honduras.

Serving at the Crossroads (SATC) invites you to its annual fun-filled gala on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 6-10 PM at the Brandywine River Museum of Art. This year’s theme is a Casino Night with a multitude of live-action gaming like blackjack, roulette, craps, and poker.

The event will also host an online auction and raffles. In addition to the casino games and auction, guests can casually stroll the renowned art museum with its distinguished collection of 19th- and 20th-century American art while listening to live music or tasting the drinks, hors d’oeuvres, coffee, and desserts.

SATC is a nonprofit that 15 years ago decided to take action when it visited a severely medically underserved area in Honduras. SATC helped establish a Honduran non-government organization (NGO), Manos Amigas, to build, equip, and support a modern medical and dental facility in La Entrada, Honduras. Staffed with local healthcare professionals, the clinic is open seven days a week and to date has treated more than 180,000 patients.

While the gala is meant to be an entertaining evening, it is also an opportunity for guests to support a noble cause that gives patients hope, invigorates the spirit of a community, and enables families to break out of the cycle of poverty and illness that entraps the impoverished. The fundraising goal for this year’s event is $250,000. The proceeds from the event will be used to outfit the recent expansion of La Entrada’s clinic with modern medical equipment, including an ophthalmological laser, establish a modern imaging center with a digital x-ray and mammography, and enhance audiology services with a sound booth.

At the event, SATC will premiere a video detailing the results of the work it has performed in Honduras. The video was directed and edited by southeastern Pennsylvania’s Chad Horn. Horn and his firm, The Bard Tales, have created documentaries and movies for world-class media outlets such as The Discovery Channel, The Smithsonian Channel, and Sports Illustrated.

The night will also include State Sen. Andy Dinniman as a guest speaker. He will be presenting special volunteerism awards to Dr. James F. Gustainis, D.M.D., an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in West Chester, and Dr. George Trajtenberg, former Chief of Surgery at Chester County Hospital.

Corporate sponsorships for the event are still available. A sponsorship of SATC’s Casino Night will not only make a difference in other people’s lives; it will provide your company with valuable exposure in an upscale venue to an audience of professionals, including doctors, nurses, businesspeople, and other benefactors, many of whom have put service to others before self.
