Restaurant in Downingtown Translates Its Dedication to Serving Fresh Food into Rooftop Garden

Pomodoro Pizza and Italian Restaurant offers a taste of authentic Italian food made from fresh ingredients, some of which are grown right on the eatery’s roof, writes Vittoria Woodill for CBS Philly.

The restaurant offers a pick of Italian delights and also a few surprises.

“My philosophy is: You want it, you got it,” said Pomodoro owner and chef Croce “Tony” Cataldo.

His customers get to enjoy anything from Mama’s recipes that stem from Palermo, Sicily, to plates made with produce freshly picked directly from the roof garden above the patrons.

His main goal is to show people what they are eating.

“I want people to recognize what they eat,” he said. “People come in, they know exactly what they are going to get.”

He also tries to ensure his customers do not miss out on anything good. To achieve this, he prompts them to try something new each time they visit, even if they are a bit reluctant at first.

“As soon as they try the first bite, I can see on their face – it lights up,” he said.
