How This Berwyn Native Scored a World Series Ticket for a Fraction of the Market Price

Thanks to his unwavering belief in his team, Berwyn native Nic Peischl scored his ticket to Game Three of the World Series for just $42, writes Jane Recker for the Washingtonian.

For comparison, tickets in the same section where Peischl sat sold for $1,600.

Peischl grew up as a fan of the Montreal Expos, despite having no ties to Canada. When the Expos moved to D.C. in 2004 and became the Washington Nationals, he continued to root for the franchise.

To secure his ticket, Peischl used a platform called Lunatix. In mid-September, he bet $42 that the Nationals would play in Game Three of the World Series. If they made it, he would get a ticket.

At the time, the Nationals were struggling to even make the playoffs.

“Up until the eighth inning of the Wild Card game, when they came back, it wasn’t looking good,” said Peischl.

However, his team pulled through and Peischl won his spot at Nationals Park for less than the cost of five domestic beers at the ballpark.

“All along I had a feeling this year that this was the year … even though I feel that every year,” Peischl said. “There’s something special about this year’s team.”
