West Chester native Carl Nassib, a Malvern Prep graduate and defensive end for the Las Vegas Raiders, is one of the Forbes 30 Under 30 honorees, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The annual list includes 600 people divided into 20 different categories. Nassib is featured in the sports division of the list.

During high school, Nassib never started a game. But he hit his stride as a walk-on at Penn State, where he became an All-American.

He was a third-round draft pick in 2016 and was voted as a team captain for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before joining the Raiders.

After he came out last June (Pride Month), Nassib became the NFL’s first openly gay, active player. Immediately afterward, he received strong support from numerous football figures, fans, and others. His jersey sales also shot up to become the top seller on Fanatics.

Since coming out, Nassib has started supporting various LGBTQ+ philanthropic groups, including The Trevor Project, an organization that combats teenage suicide within the LGBTQ+ community.
