Mary Alice Dorrance Malone, a Coatesville-area resident and heiress to the Campbell Soup Company fortune, has once again made The Forbes 400 list of the wealthiest Americans, write Luisa Kroll and Kerry Dolan for Forbes.

With a net worth of $3.5 billion, Dorrance Malone came in at No. 239, which still makes her the highest-ranked person from the Philadelphia area.

Dorrance Malone, who has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona, is the largest shareholder of the Campbell Soup Company. There, she sits on the board, along with her brother, Bennett Dorrance.

The company began its rapid growth in 1897, when its founder and Malone’s grandfather, John T. Dorrance, invented the condensed-soup formula.

Late last year, Daniel Loeb’s investment firm, Third Point, attempted to remove several board members, including Dorrance Malone. However, those attempts turned out to be unsuccessful.

In addition to her role at the Campbell Soup Company, Dorrance Malone is the president of Iron Spring Farm. The horse breeding and training company owns several expansive properties in Pennsylvania and Florida.
