WCU’s Athletic Department Enjoying Historic Success This Fall

West Chester University’s Golden Rams are having an amazing fall season so far, achieving a 94 percent rate of winning across the entire athletic department.

West Chester University’s Golden Rams are having an amazing fall season so far, achieving a 94 percent rate of winning across the entire athletic department, writes Neil Geoghegan for the Daily Local News.

About a month into the new season, the combined WCU teams have accomplished a 35-2 record.

“It doesn’t surprise us, necessarily, but it really is a great accomplishment,” said football coach Bill Zwaan. “So it’s not something you expect.”

Seeing an entire athletic program achieve such a successful run is extremely rare. And according to WCU Athletic Director Terry Beattie, the secret to the success starts at the top.

“We have an excellent group of coaches who have been here for a long time and that stability is very important,” said Beattie.

The success has made WCU the standard-bearer in the 16-school Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.
