Robert Nicolini, a CPA and Partner at Clarke Nicolini & Associates, will receive the Exton Region Chamber of Commerce’s Harold Martin Leadership Award at its Annual Dinner on Thursday, Sept. 19 at The Desmond.

The ERCC’s mission is to advance the economic success of its membership and community by providing relationship-building, marketing, education, advocacy, and community-outreach opportunities. Its Harold Martin Leadership Award is intended to recognize a person from the Exton region who has achieved a significant and acknowledged level of success in his or her career and who has demonstrated leadership and a longstanding, unselfish commitment to improving the quality of life in the region.

Nicolini served 18 years on the ERCC’s board, including as Treasurer and Chairman. His dedication to Mission Community Church as an elder, the Bridge Academy, and Chester County Women’s Services as a volunteer and board member conveys his commitment to the region.

The chamber will also honor Maria O’Connell, the owner of Express Employment Professionals, with its 2019 Small Business Person of the Year Award. The award recognizes the owner or CEO of an ERCC-affiliated business with 100 or less employees who demonstrates original entrepreneurship and leadership, staying power and positive response to adversity in a changing business environment, and community involvement and commitment to specific community projects.

Based in Malvern, O’Connell’s franchise helps people find jobs and provides workforce solutions to businesses.

Reality television star and international philanthropist Heidi Hamels will speak at the dinner. Hamels, who once starred in Survivor, is the co-founder, along with her husband, former Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels, of The Hamels Foundation. The nonprofit is dedicated to enriching the lives of children through the power of education by giving them the tools they need to achieve their goals
