CCEDC Works Hard Behind the Scenes to Help Local Companies Attract, Retain Talent

By

The Chester County Economic Development Council is continuing to focus on strengthening the Chester County economy and preserving local jobs, writes Michael Grigalonis, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of the CCEDC, for the Daily Local News.

After a recent report that showed Pennsylvania lagging behind in the innovative economy, there has been a lot of talk about jobs. Specifically, the changeability of jobs in today’s economy and the retraining of employees.

And while this might be a new topic to some, CCEDC has been working on this issue for decades.

“For us, workforce development is economic development,” wrote Grigalonis.

The CCEDC meets with hundreds of businesses each year to explore ways in which it can facilitate their growth. Almost always, the ability to attract and retain talent is the No. 1 issue.

To help with this, the CCEDC has been developing programs to help employers with the workforce challenges of today. Also, it has focused on building a strong pipeline of talent for the future through many programs specifically designed for local youth to become excited by the career opportunities available in their backyard.
