Northbrook Canoe Co. in West Chester is offering tubing adventures down the Brandywine River for those looking for some relaxing and fun activities on the water, writes Marcus Schneck for the Harrisburg Patriot-News.

The Brandywine River is an ideal place for adventurers of all skill levels and experience. Beginners can rent an inner tube at Northbrook, while more experienced tubers can bring their own and have them inflated on site. Northbrook also offers some other specialized gear and transportation options.

Tubing, the recreational activity where people ride on top of an inner tube while careening through the water, has been growing in popularity. Nowadays, people are often looking for reasons to get away from the hustle and bustle and into the undeveloped countryside.

Another positive is that there is no general law prohibiting the launching of inner tubes or tubing on rivers in Pennsylvania, according to the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. Also, no special license or permit needs to be obtained.

“Whether it is legal to launch or retrieve inner tubes at particular access areas depends on the regulations for those sites,” said the commission.
