Owner of Electric Bike Shop in West Chester to Retire

By

Gary DiVincenzo, the owner of Hybrid Cycles in West Chester, is retiring and closing the doors of his electric bike shop on Aug. 1, writes Bill Rettew for the Daily Local News.

DiVincenzo, a Downingtown resident, has been in the business of selling electric bikes for nearly a decade. In addition to leisure riders and commuters, his customers also included those with bad knees and hips, many of whom were seniors.

“We were able to get people into biking who normally wouldn’t be able to ride a bike,” he said.

DiVincenzo said it was a “joy to serve delightful customers.”

The former Vietnam War helicopter pilot is now planning to take more bike rides down the shore and work as a part-time handyman in Havertown with his son.

Many people are sad to see the shop go, including Malcolm Johnstone, executive director of the Business Improvement District.

“He brought an interesting niche business that created another reason for people to come downtown to see cool things,” said Johnstone. “His service was fabulous. He will be missed.”

The shop is currently running closeout sales in bikes, accessories, and fixtures.
