Participants, sponsors, and Mother Nature helped make the Second Annual Meridian Bank Golf Classic Benefitting Surrey Services for Seniors a success. The outing, held last week at Applebrook Golf Club in Malvern, featured 109 golfers and raised approximately $55,000.
Surrey is a Devon-based nonprofit with additional locations in Broomall, Media, Havertown, and East Goshen that helps older adults live with independence and dignity and continue as engaged members of the community. The event’s proceeds will support Surrey’s transportation division, which provides local seniors rides to medical appointments, local errands, and Surrey’s five centers. Last year, Surrey provided more than 16,000 of those rides.
“We help more than 6,000 people every year, and without the Golf Classic, we would not be able to offer programs, critical services, and meals to older adults in Chester, Delaware, and parts of Montgomery County, many of whom are low-income or at-risk,” said Bob Madonna, Surrey’s President and CEO. “Having a partner like Meridian Bank is great, and I hope we can do this every year for a long time.”
