Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan

Tom Hogan has announced that he will not seek a third term as Chester County District Attorney, saying that he will seek new challenges and spend more time with his family, writes Michael Rellahan for the Daily Local News.

Hogan released a statement indicating that he and his team of prosecutors and police departments “have accomplished everything we set out to achieve and more.”

“We made Chester County the safest county in southeastern Pennsylvania,” he wrote.

Hogan offered his support for a replacement on the Republican ticket to his colleague, First Assistant District Attorney Michael Noone.

“Mike is well-known to law enforcement and our judges,” Hogan said. “He will keep Chester County safe.”

Hogan, 52, a resident of Willistown Township, joined the Chester County District Attorney’s office in 1998 as an assistant district attorney. He later worked as a trial prosecutor for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Philadelphia and at Lamb McErlance in West Chester, where he began his run for District Attorney.

“As the District Attorney, I am often gone,” he said. “And even when I am there, I am often someplace else in my head, thinking about a case. Nobody’s family should have to put up with a life like this forever.”
