Juah Toe, a senior psychology major and a member of the women’s rugby team at West Chester University, was recently named to the Women’s Collegiate All-Americans, which consists of the best female college rugby players nationwide, according to a report from the university.

The recognition is an amazing achievement for an athlete who never played rugby before she arrived at WCU.

Toe joined the team during her second week at the university. After only two practices, she was already playing in games. Today, she is co-captain of the team.

Off the field, she is a member of the Honors College and serves as sports and rec director for the Honors Student Association.

However, her busy schedule did not prevent her from picking up a minor in civic and professional leadership and helping to organize a 5K to promote positive mental health in student-athletes.

She says the secret to her success is her boundless energy and unshakable confidence.

“You should always take every opportunity that comes your way, even if you are unsure of it,” she said. “If it doesn’t work out, at least you tried.”
