Manatawny Still Works, a growing distillery in Pottstown, has joined forces with two small businesses in southern Chester County to produce honey and maple whiskeys, writes Lee Stabert for Keystone Edge.

Manatawny makes its honey variety with the help of Swarmbustin’ Honey, an apiary in West Grove.

For maple whiskey, the distillery teams up with Whiskey Hollow Maple in Avondale. The latter is a part of a symbiotic partnership. The family business that produces maple products uses the distillery’s empty barrels for its barrel-aged maple syrup.

“The No. 1 thing that we have to sell is the fact that we are locally made,” said Derek Menaldino, partner at Manatawny. “So when we meet other people who are locally minded or have products that are made in PA, it’s just a good fit. They’re doing something similar, and we want to support them.”

The distillery sells its spirits, including its honey and maple whiskeys, in its Pottstown tasting room, as well as in 30 Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores. Manatawny is now planning to add two more tasting rooms, one in Philadelphia and another on the Main Line.
