Check Out Where Chesco Ranks in Pennsylvania Among Counties with Largest Tax Refunds

Chester County ranked second in Pennsylvania among the counties where residents receive some of the largest tax refunds, according to a recent study by SmartAsset.

To determine the counties with the highest average refunds, the study divided the amount refunded in each county by the number of refunds given out by the IRS in that county.

Chester County had 176,770 taxpayers who received an average refund of $3,562. Meanwhile, 57,810 taxpayers across the county owed an average of $7,768 in tax.

Chester County was beaten to the top spot by neighboring Montgomery County, which had 298,120 taxpayers who received an average of $4,223 in tax refunds. It also had 89,290 taxpayers who owed an average of $7,384 in taxes.

The top three is rounded out by Delaware County, with an average amount of $3,436 in taxes refunded to 209,870 taxpayers. Meanwhile, 49,960 of its residents owed an average of $6,459 in taxes.
