Qlik Champions Data Literacy, Offers Free Certification

By

Qlik and CEO Mike Capone, right, are champions of data literacy.

Qlik, the King of Prussia-based analytics firm that champions data literacy, is offering a free certification that enables both its customers and non-customers to demonstrate and document their skills in data literacy, writes Brian Holak for SearchBusinessAnalytics.com.

Qlik’s research showed that only 24 percent of employees worldwide are confident about their ability to interact with data. The firm’s data literacy report also found that 36 percent of business leaders are willing to offer higher pay to data-literate employees.

“Increasing numbers of companies are realizing that a lack of data literacy is really holding them back from getting the most value out of their data,” said Forrester Research analyst Martha Bennett. “Having a certification that allows people to prove that they have that skill sets an important signal.”

The two-hour examination contains 70 questions that measure performance in data skills that support better decision-making in a digitized workplace. This includes both hard skills, such as interpreting data, and soft skills, such as problem-solving.

In addition to a certificate, successful candidates receive a badge for their LinkedIn profiles and resumes.
